Day Minus One

The advance party have arrived in Biarritz. As you can see the sun is shining and life is good. We had a quick swim in the Atlantic when we arrived to clear the head after the flight which was great.

The local beaches are excellent. As Russell said you can see why Australians are knocked out when they see French beaches for the first time. There my well even be better beaches around, but this one is walking distance from the hotel.  Unfortunately we're here for the cycling...not the surf.

Rob and Wayne have tracked down the local bike shop already and are having some last minute tweaking done in preparation for Monday's start. I think they are both trying to raise the stakes by getting bigger back cogs on their bikes....just to 'be on the safe side'.

I don't think they need to worry. They both look very fit to me.

Please Note: This post has been updated at the request of the French Ministry of Tourism. We have discovered that Biarritz has at 3.5m tide. So when visiting to the beach here....timing is everything.
As in life.

  1. Jim, I can attest to the fact that Tony has ably taken on the task of distributing Labor voting cards at the polling booth today. He did sandwich himself between the ladies handing out cards for the Nurses Party and the Sex Party. He too did not seem bothered. Enjoy !!!
